Aromatherapy

LaMari uses essential oils in low doses only (and preferably no extracts, because they are most likely adulterated with either alcohol or preservatives) which are obtained from plant material by either expression (e.g. citrus oils), steam, water or dry distillation (e.g. lavender oil) and not contaminated with chemical solvents; they are made up of very small molecules which can pass through the skin, having therapeutic potential and helping with skin problems, the circulation, muscles and joints, the respiratory system, the digestive system, the immune system, the nervous system and the mind. They aid in the body's repair process and support our wellbeing.

Safety

We are avoiding allergy causing and problematic ingredients:
no tree-nut or peanut derived oils - they can trigger an allergic reaction for people with tree-nut or peanut allergies (cross sensitisation); no wheatgerm oil (gluten!), no soya bean or sesame seed derived ingredients (highly allergenic). Citrus oils in rinse-off products only because they can cause photosensitivity by exposure to light, resulting in pigmentation spots on your skin. Certain carrier oils - like rosehip seed oil - are used in night products only, as they are very photosensitive as well.

Simplicity - Certified Organic

Only very few, pure ingredients per product, because your skin is already exposed to many harmful substances in the air and your environment and has to cope with them as well; you should avoid an overload with too many different ingredients in your skin care; the skin is our largest organ and absorbs whatever we put on it, so we have to be very careful what to chose! Compared to other products we try to keep our ingredient lists short, simple and understandable!
We only use certified organic ingredients registered with ACO, NASAA and their partners; most of them are even food grade and edible; all other ingredients are either plant derived or found in nature, like the rhassoul/ghassoul clay which occurs naturally on earth and is being mined; even though LaMari doesn't have a certification, our production is according to the ACO standards!

Natural

No artificial or petroleum based ingredients such as fragrances, perfumes, preservatives or colours because they can cause asthma, allergic reactions, cancer, birth defects etc. and are not sustainable or biodegradable.
No alcohol (except in acne paste) - can cause alterations in the protective skin barrier and can be drying to skin.
No animal derived ingredients - every product is suitable for vegans
Every single ingredient is listed - no statements like 'preservative', 'palm derived wax', 'aroma' etc. - although lots of companies claim to use all natural ingredients, most of them are chemically altered and not allowed in certified organic production!
Only plant derived preservatives in the lotion clanser & shampoo: leuconostoc/radish root ferment filtrate & elderberry extract - our other way of 'preserving' is the use of waterfree products - serums, oils & balms - the certified organic rosemary antioxidant helps stabilising the shelf life; off course all natural products don't last the same time as synthetic preserved ones and are best 'consumed' within 3 - 6 months - but you wouldn't leave your fresh produce in the fridge for too long either... We make to order to ensure freshness and purity!

Ethical & Eco Friendly

Whenever possible we try to source our ingredients from Australian suppliers or Fair Trade Projects. LaMari is totally palm oil free! We don't use aluminium packaging - to produce it, a lot of energy is wasted and toxic byproducts are left behind - all our packaging is recycable! No extra outer packaging boxes to reduce waste. More than half of the electricity we use comes from solarpower to reduce the carbon footprint! We re-use packaging material and are sourcing biodegradable packaging as well!
